The Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) a program of Senior Corps, is a federally sponsored program of over 750 chapters nationwide,
with approximately half a million senior volunteers giving more than 81 million hours annually to their communities. Senior Corps is administered
by the Corporation for National and Community Service, an independent federal agency created to connect Americans of all ages and backgrounds with
opportunities to give back to their communities and nation. The RSVP program is designed primarily to encourage persons 55 and better to volunteer
their skills and experience at approved agencies. A second objective is to offer the benefits and support of RSVP membership to those who are already
giving volunteer service.
There is no cost to join RVP. Membership offers free placement in a broad range of community and service opportunities and provides:
free accident insurance, reimbursement of transportation expenses to and from assignments if needed (not to exceed $15.00 per month),
quarterly newsletter, luncheons, dinners, and an annual volunteer recognition event. In return, we ask that members make an earnest commitment to
volunteering and send a monthly report of their volunteer hours.
If you would like additional information, please call us at 703-369-5292 x207. We look forward to counting you as one of the many senior volunteers who have Re-Defined Retirement!
