The Prince William Medicare Counseling Program needs volunteers with basic computer skills and a desire to help Prince William residents. Minimal commitment time is 4 hours a week with a minimum 6-month commitment. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older, and must satisfactorily complete certification training. Volunteers are subject to the Virginia State Police background check. Volunteers cannot be a licensed insurance agent or consultant.
Volunteers will help provide Medicare counseling to residents of Prince William County, the City of Manassas, and the City of Manassas Park, their family members, and caretakers. Requirements include assisting individuals understand and resolve issues with Medicare, Medigap, Medicare managed care plans, and long-term care insurance. Volunteers primarily work in the office. Training and continuing support is provided.
